Our Time In Belize, Next...Guatemala

So, let me explain why you can keep the Yucatan. As soon as we crossed into the area, the whole peninsula must have been infected by Cancun, Cozumel and Playa Del Carmen. Special gringo prices were in place as well as already higher prices due to all of the tourons visiting the places mentioned. We made our way over to Tulum which was the icing on the cake. We holed up for the weekend hoping the tourons would thin out some which luckily they did. It was still a Disney World crowd and the ruins were disappointing compared to Palenque and Uxmal. Access was limited everywhere and the beach in front of the ruins was closed also, so no front views like I had hoped. The beach that was accessible, was full of Ken and Barbies making a bunch of noise so if you're there for the party... We were in the wrong place, so we exited quickly and headed for Belize.
On the way there, we turned around to eat at a restaurant and ran into two guys from the US that invited us to their place. Fred is from Ft Collins, Colorado and Ray is from Cheyenne,Wyoming. Both successful business owners and Harley riders. It turns out, their place is an eleven room hotel they bought for friends and family to getaway. They only opened it as a hotel to help pay expenses. The price was right (free) so we stayed an extra day so I could repair my rear wiring harness. We crossed into Belize on Wednesday and met a couple of Creoles, again when we stopped to eat, and they invited us for a stay in their jungle lodge. Let's just say it was rustic, but we had an excellent fish fry late night snack as we listened to the jungle come alive. WOW!!! That was cool. Rubin or Jerry, we called him both and Marley were excellent hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the jungle. We eventually fell asleep only to be awakened by a tapir, which is the national animal. It is built like a short legged bull or rhino and looks like it has an anteater type snout on it. Feel free to do a little research for better information. We woke up to different sounds in the jungle as parrots and a toucan flew about the camp.
We got new sneakers(tires)on the bike in Belize City and have been touring around the country for three days. We hiked through a cave the other day at Blue Hole National Park (not to be confused with The Blue Hole) We went to a 1000' waterfall today which was twenty miles back another rocky washboard of a dirt road only to be disappointed again because of no access to the base of the falls and only a small overlook from about a 1/4 mile away. We are now in a border village preparing to cross into Guatemala in the morning. That catches us up so let me load some pics now. Does anything look familiar in any of these photos? I will put it in twice just in case you miss it the first time. Yes, this is in Belize.
